Dean, internationally recognised fishing guide and fly fishing champion of the Otago/Southland/Fiordland region,
has fished a wide variety of water throughout the South Island.
His over 30 years fishing experience brings an intimate knowledge of the South Island waterways to your trip.
Fishing Regulations and Weather
The New Zealand trout season is from October 1 to April 30, but it is important that you check with the current
Fish and Game regulations before fishing.
Great dry-fly fishing is to be had in December,
one of the least crowded months up until Christmas.
Essential Fishing Equipment
Fast action 9' (2.7 metre) rod from 4wt to 6wt, Lightweight chest waders, rubber studded wading boots, dull coloured fishing clothes, wide brim hat,
and good quality Polaroid® glasses. Dean is a member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association.
